Services & Fee
Structure
What's "Smart
Giving?" Maximizing your donations by saving both time and money for
your favorite charities! We can help!Participation
entitles donors to a comprehensive program as outlined below:
INDIVIDUAL DONORS &
GRANT-MAKING ENTITIES
Charity Works, Inc. (CharityWorks) offers donors including
individuals, foundations, and other grant-making entities several
opportunities to participate in its innovative resource finder
program called Charitable Alliance Network (CAN).
Based on a fee for service, donation or grant, our staff will
perform a complete review and provide an overall recommendation on
the grant applications that each donor receives from selected
nonprofit organizations.
Our
review covers the working capital requests that potential grantees
propose for traditional and nontraditional goods and services and any
funding requests for capital equipment, new construction, and/or
renovation projects.
The
purpose of reviewing each selected grant application is to assure
each donor that their charitable funds will be maximized through the
application of smart purchasing practices and relationship building
with the business sector.
Goods
include but are not limited to capital equipment, non-labor supplies
and MRO (maintenance, repair, and operating supply) items, etc.
Services include but are not limited to telecommunications,
insurance, advertising, personnel travel, security, utilities, new
construction and renovation projects, freight, etc.
PROGRAM SERVICES
The
CAN program includes three basic types of services:
Strategic Sourcing
-
Identify qualified sources of supply (e.g., vendors) industry by
industry.
-
Recommend “best” vendors per user requirements/specifications.
-
Comment on product features, financial and life-cycle cost
considerations, vendors and local service issues, reported user
experiences, and other purchasing considerations.

FEE
STRUCTURE
The
CAN program’s fee structure for each type of service is as follows:
Strategic Sourcing
A flat
service fee based on the total budget and total number of different
types of goods and services that a donor is willing to fund for one
or more nonprofit organizations. The service fee is based on an
estimate of the hours needed to perform the services at a discounted
rate ranging from $25.00 to $225.00 per hour. [The hourly rate is
based on a mix of the rates for administrative and professional
staff.]
The fee
includes an unconditional guarantee*.
A special
flat fee may be offered to donors due to the nature of the
engagement.
Contract Negotiations
A fee of 5%
of the list price for each item to be budgeted/bid or a flat fee
estimated based on time and an hourly rate needed to perform the
services that are agreed to in writing.
The fee includes an
unconditional guarantee*.
Procurement
Management
The fee is 5%
of the list price for the items to be purchased or a flat fee
estimated based on time and an hourly rate needed to perform the
services.
COMBINATION
OF SERVICES
If
the Strategic Sources and Contract Negotiations are selected, the
combined fee for these services will not exceed 10% of the total
budget of the goods and services the donor agrees to fund for each
selected grantee.
ALTERNATIVE
PARTICIPATION
To
encourage nonprofits to participant in the CAN program and benefit
from collaborative action, donors may “sponsor” the annual
registration fee of $100.00 for each nonprofit grantseeker or each
grantee. The volume of participants helps to enhance customer
status and overall buying leverage.
*Unconditional Guarantee
All
program services offered by CharityWorks are unconditionally
guaranteed. If the “best” vendor sources identified by
CharityWorks do not generate significant dollar savings or value for
the donor’s selected nonprofit organization/grantee, any fee(s)
charged under the engagement will be refunded in total.
NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND
FEE STRUCTURE
Nonprofit
organizations who qualify as “pure” charitable organizations and agree to
participate in the CAN program and pay the annual registration fee of
$100.00 are entitled to receive the following three services at NO CHARGE:
-
Strategic
Sourcing
-
Contract
Negotiations
-
Procurement Management
Nonprofit
organizations who do not qualify as “pure” charitable organizations but
agree to participate in the CAN program and pay the annual registration fee
of $100.00 may obtain the following two services on a negotiated fee basis:
Supply
Base Management (includes Strategic Sourcing and Contract Negotiations)
-
A service fee not to
exceed 10% of the total budget of the goods and services the nonprofit

IMPORTANT
FACTS ABOUT CharityWorks
The
following facts should be considered in evaluating the services offered by
CharityWorks:
CharityWorks, a
public charity, does establish agreements with selected vendors to market
a company’s commitment of favorable pricing and terms to qualified
nonprofits. These agreements involve compensation in the form of
administrative fees and/or rebates that are based on business
transactions that occur between CAN participants. Such compensation, as
stated in writing by each vendor, does not negatively impact the net
prices offered to our nonprofit clients.
CharityWorks serves its clients as an “intermediary” preferably by
written agreement. When necessary, the organization may act as an
authorized reseller to effectively provide the lowest possible prices on
certain types of goods and services strictly for the benefit of its
clients.
CharityWorks was
formed to promote donors’ works of charity.
The CAN Program was specifically designed to promote
“supply
channel philanthropy."
*All fees include an
unconditional guarantee. CharityWorks assumes the entire risk for each project.
If "best" sources identified by CharityWorks do not generate significant
dollar savings or value over what the donor's nonprofit organization would
have been able to secure on their own, we will refund any fee(s) charged to
the donor under the engagement either to the donor or the applicable donee.
